Cedric Bixler-Zavala Slams Linkin Park’s Emily Armstrong
Cedric Bixler-Zavala, frontman of The Mars Volta, has reignited criticism of Linkin Park’s new vocalist, Emily Armstrong, due to her connections to the Church of Scientology and alleged support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson. Bixler-Zavala publicly questioned Armstrong’s ties in a comment he posted on Dead Sara’s Instagram page last year.
“Do your fans know about your friend Danny Masterson? Your rapist friend,” Bixler-Zavala wrote, addressing Armstrong’s alleged support for the disgraced actor. Bixler-Zavala’s wife, Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, is one of several women who accused Masterson of sexual assault. Although Masterson wasn’t convicted on the charges related to Carnell-Bixler's allegations, he was found guilty of raping two other women and was recently sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
Both Bixler-Zavala and Carnell-Bixler are former members of the Church of Scientology, an organization they have accused of harassment due to their legal actions against Masterson, a prominent Scientologist. Armstrong is also linked to Scientology—photographs show her attending a 2013 gala at the Scientology Celebrity Centre, and she was reportedly present in court to support Masterson during his trial, according to Scientology critic Tony Ortega.
Following the news of Armstrong joining Linkin Park, Bixler-Zavala resurfaced his previous comment on Dead Sara's Instagram page, sharing it in an Instagram Story, though it has since been removed. However, his wife still has the story on her own Instagram.
“I’m surprised none of you wrote a letter on Danny Masterson's behalf since your corny-ass singer showed up to support him in the prelims,” Bixler-Zavala wrote. He went on to accuse Armstrong of being part of an alleged group of Scientologists who harassed one of Masterson’s accusers in court, saying, “The court sheriffs had to escort her away from your awful cult… How do you reconcile the homophobia found in the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard's Dianetics?”
Carnell-Bixler also weighed in, calling Armstrong a “hardcore Scientologist who supported a convicted serial rapist both in and out of court,” referring to Masterson, though not mentioning him directly by name. She further accused Armstrong of being part of a "criminal organization" involved in human and child trafficking, as well as covering up sexual assaults. The Church of Scientology has faced numerous allegations over the years, all of which it has denied.
As of now, neither Armstrong nor Linkin Park has responded to the claims.
