Two California Men Charged in $230 Million Cryptocurrency Heist Following FBI Raid on Miami Mansion

Two young men are facing federal charges in connection with a $230 million cryptocurrency theft, after FBI agents raided a mansion in Miami earlier this week. The suspects, 20-year-old Malone Lam of Miami and Los Angeles, and 21-year-old Jeandiel Serrano of Los Angeles, were arrested Wednesday night for their alleged involvement in a massive cryptocurrency scheme.

The U.S. Department of Justice has charged the pair with conspiracy to steal and launder cryptocurrency. According to the indictment, Lam and Serrano, along with others, executed a sophisticated operation to steal large amounts of cryptocurrency, which they then funneled through various exchanges and mixing services to hide the illicit gains.

The scale of their operation was uncovered when a social media user on X (formerly Twitter) revealed that Lam had allegedly stolen more than $230 million in Bitcoin from a victim based in Washington, D.C. in August. The indictment further alleges that Lam and Serrano spent the stolen cryptocurrency lavishly, purchasing luxury cars, designer handbags, expensive watches, and funding extravagant lifestyles that included international travel, nightclubs, and renting high-end properties in Los Angeles and Miami.

The duo, who used the online aliases "Anne Hathaway" (Lam) and "VersaceGod" or "@SkidStar" (Serrano), are accused of flaunting their wealth on social media, showing off their luxury cars and designer goods at flashy parties. Their crimes came to a sudden halt, however, when FBI agents stormed a mansion near North Bayshore Drive in Miami on Wednesday evening. Neighbors reported hearing what they initially thought were fireworks as the FBI launched their raid on the rental property.

Authorities, assisted by the City of Miami Police, searched the mansion for hours, with federal agents meticulously combing through the residence as part of their investigation. Smoke could be seen pouring from the house as the operation unfolded.

By Thursday evening, it was confirmed that the arrests of Lam and Serrano were directly tied to the Miami mansion raid. Both men are expected to face charges in U.S. District Courts in Florida and California.

The high-profile case has left neighbors relieved that the suspects have been taken into custody. "Tonight, it's going to be peace for all," one resident said, reflecting the community's sense of closure following the dramatic raid.
